One of our recent learners was referred to us via the local Job Centre. He was in urgent need of support after recently losing his job and being made homeless. It soon became clear that he also had difficulties with reading and writing which was proving to be a big barrier to employment.
During our conversations, he confided in us he was struggling to afford food. Our Learner Mentor Lynsey Bellingham went out of her way to source a food parcel for him from a local food bank and we were able to show him where to go for future support.
He completed a Health and Safety in Construction course with us and after doing his exam we’re happy to say he managed to secure employment!
