Supporting Afghan Refugees into Work

Four Afghan refugees are now in employment after successfully completing Fork Lift Truck (FLT) training through ANTA Community Training CIC’s Staffordshire Resettlement Project.

The participants joined the programme facing significant barriers to employment, including limited UK work experience, language challenges, and low confidence following resettlement. Through the project, they received tailored employability support alongside access to accredited FLT training aligned with local employer demand.

In addition to gaining their FLT qualifications, the participants were supported with CV development, interview preparation, and an understanding of workplace expectations in the UK. Confidence‑building guidance and ongoing one‑to‑one support helped each individual progress at their own pace.

By working closely with local employers, the project was able to support all four participants into employment shortly after completing their training. Moving into work has provided financial stability for the individuals and their families, while also supporting their longer‑term integration into the local community.

This success highlights the positive impact that targeted training and personalised support can have in helping refugees overcome barriers and build sustainable careers in the UK.

We're incredibly proud to have been working with Stafford Foundation, along with the resettlement team at Staffordshire Council who have made this project possible.
